Travel adventure of first timers

Travel adventures and experiences have been penned down from time memorial. We have stories of famous explorers like  colombus, vasco dagama, captain Cook and also travel shows of Anthony Bourdain. Each one is filled with interesting incidents and adventures as they have ventured into the unknown or tried something challenging.
But here we have an ordinary flight journey from Pune to amritsar via Delhi full of thrill and adventure.
Here the full credit of this adventure lies with the traveller himself, no credit is shared by the  airlines even if it was our own Air India flight.
No flights delay no cancellations yet  the journey kept us and many others on tender hooks. The traveller was my dear son travelling home for his first vacation all  alone.
The traveler got not only his parents worried but got a lot of people working overtime.

The morning 7.00 am  Flight was  a challenge in itself for any teenager and his parents. It meant getting up at 5.00 am. Waking a youngster from a distance means
A sleepless night for both of us. We had to wake him up in time and he on the other hand decided to stay awake all night . 😬
Now our fear was hope he doesn't fall  asleep at 4.00 am
Luckily nothing of this sort happened and we gave a sigh of relief. Now all is well.

We decided to sleep  for a while after we learnt he has got into a taxi for the airport.
Our small desire was shattered  with a call saying papa  I have a small problem of excess baggage.
How can he have more than 25 kgs baggage (the generous allowance of air India. One of the motivating factor to choose this airline over other efficient ones) and he is just on a 20 days holiday.
Four kgs excess in check-in baggage and two kgs in hand bag.
But why was he  carrying so much stuff we asked.
All my clothes needed a wash. Uff in 2000 rupees you cud have afforded a good laundry in Pune itself and they would have done a better job than your mother.
Luck was by his side and We were saved by some good fellow traveller who volunteered to adjust his stuff in her bag till Delhi.
This young lady should be given an award for her bravery and daring attitude. No one in their right sense would volunteer to help an unshaven college teenager with his baggage. Drug warnings are so loud and clear that at times people politely refuse parcels from our acquaintances too.

So we reached  Delhi.
Now the next step was how to adjust this excess baggage from Delhi to amritsar.
No Samaritan was available at Delhi and finally we had to request a local Delhi  friend for help. But our friends were on a holiday as it was autumn break at school.
Finally he requested his help at home to reach the airport and save our son from the monster of excess baggage. The  poor guy(the helper) was looking forward to enjoy dussera holiday with his family  but had to leave his home to help this teenager in distress. The extra stuff was handed over to this man. Incidentally
the excess baggage that was handed over were basically original documents  file and study books. All of  this  we would  need  in the coming 20 days as he would  have to go back from his vacation and appear for the  first semester exams.

So now we have to arrange for someone to get this stuff collected at the earliest.

Oh anyway now things are settled we gave a sigh of relief.
Now he has to take the 4.30 flight from Delhi to. Amritsar. Now nothing can go wrong. But no we thought this too soon.
Our dear sunny boy is in trouble again. At Mc Donald's counter he picked up some one else's  similar looking laptop bag.
Our son  walked off with it and after 30 mins later he realised his mistake and panicked. His bag had a three months old laptop with all his study material.

Good sense prevailed and he went back to the Mc Donald  outlet looking for his bag.
Just as he reached the counter, he had a man hugging and almost kissing him. With secriin #377 in  he did not know what's happening  but soon realised this was a harmless  gesture of gratitude from a helpless   man  whose laptop bag he picked up by mistake.
This poor  guy was to leave for Sydney by the next flight and his visa passport and laptop everything was in the bag my son had taken away. He was going through a nightmare seeing his trip getting cancelled with passing of each minute. He went through hell for the last thirty minutes. He had contacted the help desk. He had opened my son's bag opened the laptop found his name on the screen lock. He had  found him on fb sent a message on messager.
But the angel son of ours was clueless of the storm he had created in someone's life.

That's was enough for the day we thought...
But no more  chances  to be taken, at 4.30 pm we ensured he didn't sleep off ( he was  awake now for more than 24 hours) . We ensured He was now on the flight and we were to pick him up  at amritsar airport so now  all is well we can say so .
The flight was before time and we forgot all the chaos  of the day. We were  meeting him after 3 months and love surpassed all the stress.

Here we welcomed him with a hug and kiss. Worried about him loosing weight and his unkept appearance. Twenty days and he will be pampered groomed  and cared  well.
Happily we chatted our way back  . A long  120 kms  drive back home. Now everything forgotten we made plans for going out for dinner. We had carried a snack and  before he ate it he wanted to wipe his hands and he could not find his famous laptop bag once again. We started looking around and in the cars booth. But there was none

He then remembered that he forgot to take the bag after the custom scanned it at amritsar airport Not used to arrival scanning he just forgot about it took his hand baggage and check in baggage and walked out of the exit.
Now it was time to call up  anyone we knew  who could help.. We turned  back returning back  50 kms back to  the  airport
The airport superintendent was at last contacted. He assured the bag was with him.
The customs too were alerted with the unclaimed bag, no tag   no labels..
Again the laptop was opened and there again the screen lock  flashed his name as if  smiling back at the reader hey you i am. Dhruv Bhave
So now again the search for dhruv Bhave had started and  this time it was the turn of amritsar airport.
With  the parental lecture mode on (we had thought we won't) we traveled back collected the famous laptop bag that had  a knack to escape and  get lost again and again.

All plans of eating dinner at popular restaurants ended at  a way side simple dhaba that served only veg food and simplicity at its best they didn't even have paneer dishes on their menu.
No complaints no grumbling our hungry family ate quietly.
Not willing to have any more adventures.

The adventures were our sons but we had a virtual tour too,  mentally we too traveled  all that  distance and we were equally tired.
Colombus!!! we too have  a story to share
